A new radio show devoted to events and activities exclusive to Whiteville can now be heard coming from the WTXY 1540 AM studio located in downtown Whiteville. The voice of Columbus County's Community Connection is longtime Whiteville resident and former business owner Suzanne King.

Suzanne, a community leader and volunteer, joined WTXY on air in May of this year with her new show, The Community Connection (Tues/Wed at 7:30am - replayed at 6:00pm). The Community Connection focuses on local events, and the people that make Whiteville the great place it is to work, live and play.

Topics on the show vary and have included conversations with current business owners, community leaders, and local residents. The Community Connection covers everything from what's going on locally to specific topics pertenent to the local economy and downtown activities.

Suzanne pulls from a vast array of knowledge and experiences in Whiteville, and her various roles in local organizations, including past President of the Greater Whiteville Chamber of Commerce (2001), and current board member of the Whiteville Downtown Development Committee, and the Women's Civic League.

King is also the former owner of a longtime downtown business, Collier TV Appliance & Furniture store.
